CURRICULUM: In High School, a vast majority
of all core subjects are offered in English with the
exceptions of Colombian Social Studies, Spanish, Art, P.E.,
Ethics, and some electives courses. Utilizing a modified block
schedule, students are afforded academic and social
opportunities that will prepare them not only for becoming
responsible citizens, but also for college and beyond. A
variety of specialized programs such as National Honor
Society, AP courses, Senior Independent Projects and community
meetings allow the students to explore the idea of democracy
and their need to become actively involved in the democratic
process.
While the academic formation is strong, special
emphasis is also placed on developing sound decision-making
skills, values, and social service.

ADVISORY TIME: Colegio Panamericano
promotes universal values based on responsibility, respect,
honesty and tolerance. Homeroom teachers meet with their
students once a week to develop different activities that
emphasize values and promote personal commitment to making a
positive difference in the world.
REMEDIATION
ACTIVITIES: Students are given
opportunities throughout the school year to demonstrate their
understanding of failed outcomes or objectives that they have
had difficulties with.These remediation activities are offered
after school (2:40 to 3:30) on a need-be basis.
Graduation Requirements
The following courses must be taken and satisfactory completed in order to graduate
from Colegio Panamericano with the US diploma. Each course must meet for a minimum
of 130 hours throughout the school year, which represents a
minimum of five classes per week with each class meeting for
45 minutes.
(4) Credits English in grades 9, 10, 11, 12
(4) Credits of Math in grades 9, 10, 11, 12.This course is
taught in English.
(4) Credits of Social Studies in grades 9, 10, 11, 12.This
course is taught in English.
(4) Credits of Science in grades 9, 10, 11, 12.This course
is taught in English in 9, 10, 11.
(4) Credits of Spanish in grades 9, 10, 11, 12.This course
is taught in Spanish.
Each student must have these (20) Carnegie Units earned
while in high school grades 9-12.
In addition to the Carnegie Units, the students will
complete the following courses:
- Three additional years of Physics in grades 10, 11, 12.
- Three additionalL years of Social Studies in Spanish
(including two years of Philosophy) taught in grades 11, 12.
- Four years of Physical Education courses.
- Four years of Art courses.
- Four years of Ethics.
- Four years of Technology.
- Four years of Electives
These courses vary in hours from one class per week through
five classes per week as approved by the Academic Council and
the Board of Education.
